Here you’ll find all the necessary information as you prepare for this year’s festival. Please take the time to look through all the information below and sign all necessary documents and pay your tuition.

Please complete all 4 form sections and payment section by Monday June 10, 2024.

General Rules:

Counselors must know where you are at all times.  No wandering around downtown without a counselor.  Counselors must walk with you to and from the dorms, the dining hall, Schwob, and activities.

Respect your own property and the property of others.

Respect the dorms, music building, and general surroundings.

Be on time for all check ins.

No drugs or alcohol.

Know where your instrument is at all times-with you, in the dorms, or in the instrument storage rooms.

Dorm Rules:

No open flames.

No mixed genders in the rooms.

Quiet hours are 10pm-8am.

Bullying and harassment will not be tolerated.

Zero-Tolerance Policy:

We reserve the right to call your parents and/or request that they come pick you up if you violate any of these policies.

If you are more than 10 minutes late to a check-in, your parents will be called.

2. Waivers

The General Waiver must be completed by the legal guardian of the SSMF participants if they are under 18. All participants must complete this General Waiver. All overnight participants must also complete the additional Housing Waiver.

4. Electives

This year’s electives are Musicianship, Public Musicology, and Audio Technology. Please read the descriptions below.

Students will develop a solid musical foundation by learning rhythmic approaches to enhance internal pulse, in addition to intervallic and solfege systems to develop robust aural skills. The techniques in this course will help empower students to communicate effectively on their respective instruments. 

Musicianship

Want to learn how to convey your knowledge about music to people who may not be musicians? If so, then this public musicology elective is for you. You will learn about the various ways to communicate about music to your community. 

Public Musicology

Yoga for Performers

Being a musician can cause stress to both our bodies and our minds. Yoga for Performers will introduce some easy stretches, sequences, meditations and breathwork to help you feel and sound better when you perform.

*participants electing Yoga for Performers must bring their own yoga mat and suitable clothing (clothes you can move and stretch in) to the festival.

Audio Technology

Dive into the world of audio technology and gain an understanding of foundational concepts. Discover the essential tools and techniques used in audio production, recording, and sound engineering in order to create and capture your own music ideas. 

Please rank each elective below by using a number from 1-4, with 1 being your first-choice elective.
